Guy Laney was a coal miner in Indiana County Pennsylvania for many years. He was best friends of Don Long who was the brother of Ruth. Charles Long helped Guy get out of the coal mines and secure a job in Ohio where he became an inspector of electric motors at the Lamb Electric Company in Kent, Ohio. He worked there until cancer caused him to be too ill to continue working.
