He is listed as a member of the Plum Creek Congregation on 14 May 1853.Church privileges to Matthew Long at PlumCreek Presbyterian Church. He resided in Plum Creek in 1879. Ruth Bingam had a note that he was 79 years old at death. Church privileges to Matthew Long 14 May 1852 is recorded in the record also, so there is some discrepency.2Notes.

The brown sandstone marker has fallen away and the inscription lost, but it once said, "John Bash, who departed this life Feb. 9, 1850, aged 87 years, 10 mo. 3 days. Born Apr 6, 1762 - Pvt. Revolutionary War Soldier". The grave is next to "Matty Bash " . (There was a DAR bronze marker and flag.

Her gravestone at St. James Cemetery is of brown sandstone and stands only about a foot and a half hish with the upper part of the inscritpion still sharp. The base is weathered and partly obscured by grass and soil. It reads: Matty Bash, Died Dec 13, 1838. Aged 68 years 4 mos. and 3 days.
