Original information came from Dorothy Langdon Ivey, who referred to Morris Gallinger as "Thomas". From other sources, this seems to not actually be his name and it is suspected that she was confusing his name with his son's.

Here is how she remembers it.
Thomas and Harvey are full brothers -- however Morris did not remain married to their mom. Either she died, or he divorced her (I suspect she died. because he raised the children -- not typical for fathers to get custody back then).
